**message from the director**

As I am sure everyone is aware, the Yakima School District will begin the school year on August 26th, with distance learning. On Wednesday, August 5th the Yakima School District (YSD) and Board of Directors made the decision to begin the 2020-21 school year with remote learning. Given YV TECH is hosted by the Yakima School District , we will return to the distance learning model to ensure the safety and health of our staff, students, and community. Our staff has been developing distance learning materials and delivery methods through professional development over the summer break.

We have been in contact with students over the course of the summer with cards and letters to keep them informed about our program.
Important Highlights:
*Flexibility: Students will have the flexibility to attend either synchronous session for instruction, For example: if an AM student is unable to attend the AM session that day they would have the opportunity to attend the PM session and vice versa. All lessons will be recorded for other access and review.
*Learning Kits: Our staff has developed and is developing hands-on learning kits for students. More information will follow on the distribution process.
*Entertainment Media Productions will provide MACBooks and technology needed to participate from a distance.
*Laptops will be available for checkout in the event a sending school has not provided a computing device.
*Our  ALE program will be available for students.
We will continue to provide updates and adjust as necessary. Flexibility is the key. Thank you in advance for your support.
