**Message from the Director**

Welcome, I am Dennis Matson Principal of Yakima Valley Technical Skill Center, more commonly referred to as YV-TECH. Beginning March 1st YV-TECH will be returning to school in a hybrid learning model designed to provide your students with in-person-hands-on learning. A critical element for their continued educational success.

With this being said, I want to assure you as a staff we have been monitoring the following to ensure our building’s preparedness: health and safety guidelines, student ratio’s per class, staffing, and most importantly the effectiveness of our current schedules. This has been an on-going process for the last two months as we have received input from a number of sources including the Yakima Health District.

First and foremost the safety of your children and staff is our most important priority. I want to stress to all stakeholders safety protocols and procedures are not an optional choice here at YV-TECH. I want to assure you we will follow all health department and district guidelines to ensure the safest possible environment for your child. With this being said, it is expected and required that all returning students adhere to the guidelines set forth. Failure for students to follow these procedures will result in their removal from hybrid learning and placed back into the virtual learning model. No exceptions….No debate…as I stated earlier… First and foremost is the safety of your children and staff.

In closing, it is my sincere pleasure to work with our dedicated staff and community to help provide an excellent educational experience for our students. We are committed to ensuring that your student receive the best support to learn and grow; as we continue our tradition of providing a career and college focused education to our students and quality service to our families.

We are excited for the opportunity to work with you and your student to provide a safe and productive learning environment. I encourage you to call me to share ideas, concerns, or questions. I wish your family, and especially your student, great success as we transition back to classroom learning.

Sincerely,

Dennis D. Matson
