Students will study design, theory and operations of gasoline engines, chassis, powertrains, brakes, and computerized ignition and fuel injection systems. Hands-on experience, along with “live” customer work on late model vehicles, enhances further student understanding and comprehension of necessary technical skills. Students will use state of the art tools and equipment in a modern, well-equipped shop area. This is an AYES and NATEF program.

Each year new job openings allow students to secure high paying careers in the automotive industry. Employment opportunities are available in Auto Parts Sales, Service Writer, Diagnostics Technician, Tune-up Technician, Line Technician and Brake Specialist as well as Diesel Technician, and Machine Shops Specialists.

John is a full time vocationally certified teacher that has been with the skill center since 1995, and is also a product of our own Yakima career and technical education system. He graduated from Wyoming Technical Institute and worked for Volkswagon and Chevrolet dealerships. He is NATEF/ASE certified in five categories.
A former YV -TECH graduate, George Mason earned his AAS Degree in automotive technology and Service Management from Wyoming Technical Institute. George has worked as a line Technician at various local dealerships, and in independent repair facilities and continues to consult for local shops.
